Raising awareness about issues related to domestic & dating violence

A “Refreshed” Perspective: National Network to End Domestic Violence Program Reaches #90 on Pepsi Refresh Challenge January 13, 2011

Less than one week ago, we told you about the National Network to End Domestic Violence’s (NNEDV) submission for Pepsi Refresh Project funding.  And less than one week ago, this project (The Amy’s Courage Fund) was ranked #197 in the Pepsi Refresh Project voting.

But today, thanks to your help and support, the Amy’s Courage Fund has moved up more than 100 places in the ranking!  Help this important project continue its amazing work, by voting it to #1 this week, and continuing to vote every day!

Through Amy’s Courage Fund, NNEDV provides emergency financial assistance for victims of domestic violence and their children as they flee abuse and rebuild their lives.  During the month of January, Amy’s Courage Fund is in the running for a $250,000 grant from the Pepsi Refresh Project. This grant would help the Amy’s Courage Fund continue its vital work assisting the victims of domestic violence, and will make a huge difference for victims in need of emergency funding – victims like Charlotte.

Charlotte recently received Amy’s Courage Fund assistance, to help pay the security deposit and first month’s rent for a new apartment.  Without this assistance, Charlotte said that she would have moved back in with her abuser because, “I didn’t want my children to be homeless.”  Every day, victims like Charlotte are forced to make the hopeless choice between homelessness and living in fear.

Please help us help NNEDV give the gift of hope to more victims, like Charlotte.

Go to and cast your vote.  You can vote daily (ten votes per day, but only one cause daily) so be sure to bookmark this page and vote every day from now until January 31st.

After you vote, please help us spread the word:

  • Post on your Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and other social networking sites
  • Vote every day – and set up a daily reminder on your calendar to help you remember
  • Text 105579 to PEPSI (73774) – and take your voting with you, on the go
  • Forward the link to this blog – and tell your friends and contacts why it is so important for them to support the work of NNEDV and Amy’s Courage Fund.

Together, we can not only help raise awareness of DV in our community, but help actual victims get the support they so desperately need.

Vote now, and vote often, and thank you for your support!
