While we know that domestic violence affects both men and women, the majority of victims are women. It was this very fact that popped into the mind of Christina, an FVPC volunteer, when she was eating one of her daily LUNA Bars, “I found out about the LUNAFEST fundraiser while reading the back of the Luna Bar box. As a community educator volunteer, I believe LUNAFEST will spread the word in our community during Domestic Violence Awareness Month about the services that we offer. I am thrilled to bring LUNAFEST to Chapel Hill!”
LUNAFEST arrives in early October, just in time for DVAM, as Christina points out. It is an evening of short films for, about and by women and will take place over the course of one evening. Christina and I attended a LUNAFEST in Greensboro in April and were very impressed by the diversity of the film subjects as well as the film makers. Tickets will be sold and the event will be open to the public. More details will be posted here when they are available!
